Date: 24 November 2009

Place: The National Archives, Kew

This year's Business Archives Council Conference will be held at The National Archives, Kew on Tuesday 24th November 2009.  The Conference will identify two major themes from the National Business Archives Strategy and demonstrate how collaboration and exploitation of resources are key to the development and sustainability of business archive collections.
The Conference will be opened by Natalie Ceeney, Chief Executive of TNA and will then focus on the first year of the National Strategy and how its launch
and implementation have provided business archivists and historians with a blue print for the future use and development of these valuable resources.  Alex Ritchie, the Business Archives Advice Manager, TNA, and Rene Kinzett, Head of Public Affairs NCA, will both discuss how the new strategy has impacted on the sector and the ways in which we are moving forward.
There will then be an opportunity to hear speakers from a wide range of backgrounds from farm records to retail and telecommunications.  These speakers will include Sarah Mahurter from the University of the Arts, Vicky Parkinson from the BPMA, and Alan Booth from the Porthcurno Museum.  The collaboration between Marks and Spencer and the University of Leeds will also be considered as a business model for the future which will be discussed as part of the forum which will end the Conference.
Following the Conference all delegates are most welcome to attend the presentation of the Wadsworth Prize for Business History which will also be
held at TNA.
