ARCHIVES: The journal of the British Records Association
Archives, the journal of the BRA, is a peer-reviewed journal with articles on records of every kind, and with reviews of a wide range of publications. There are two issues a year, sent direct to all members. From Spring 2019, the 60th anniversary year of the journal, Liverpool University Press are publishing the journal online and digitising the full back catalogue. Hard copy versions are available for all members and back copies can be purchased.

The widely respected Archives and the User series of publications gives essential introductions to historical sources including education, Nonconformity, manorial records and seals. These can be purchased from the BRA – please email info@britishrecordsassociation.org.uk.
The BRA survey of Risks to Historical Records in the East of England and London Regions published in 2012, is available as a free download.
LEGAL RECORDS AT RISK GUIDANCE
The Records at Risk Steering Group have revised the Legal Records at Risk Guidance (2021), which is now available to download as a PDF. This guide is endorsed by the BRA, Business Archives Council and the Institute for Advanced Legal Studies.
SHOCK OF RECORD WEBINAR SERIES
From 2021-2022, in partnership with the Institute of Historical Research (IHR), the BRA produced a series of webinars considering ‘the truth’ of the archival record. Webinars were recorded and are available on the IHR’s YouTube account. We also produced a twitter feed @Shock of Record to document each webinar.
ENGLISH ARCHIVES BY RICHARD OLNEY
The British Records Association (BRA) has recently partnered with Liverpool University Press (LUP) in publishing ‘English Archives: An Historical Survey’ by Richard Olney. The book is now available from LUP and other booksellers.
